Bio

Master Sergeant (MSG) Thomas Lee Cheek II enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2005 as a Cavalry Scout and graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  He has served in the Army for over 16 years in every leadership position in a Cavalry Troop.  They include 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as a Team Leader, CFV Gunner, and CFV Commander while twice deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment in Grafenwoehr, Germany where he served as a Section Leader and Platoon Sergeant while deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served as a Platoon Sergeant deploying in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, and 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment where he served as a first Sergeant where he deployed four times while serving on the Immediate Response Force.  MSG Cheek’s military education includes Airborne, Jumpmaster, Battle Staff, Cavalry Leaders Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, and Master Leaders Course.  1SG Cheek is married to the former Heather Templin, his wife of 14 years from Strongsville, OH.  They have three children, Hailee, TJ, and Tommy.

 

MSG Cheek is from Garner, NC and is ecstatic to be assigned to NCSU Army ROTC and is committed to developing the US Army’s future leaders!
